OOTD Throwback: NYC, The Met & a Floral Dress

I once posted this very look on my now-defunct blog pawprintsandmint and could not resist re-doing this post for a throwback as it documented one of my favourite days captured in New York City. Living in New York had a lot of fun moments, and I am grateful to have been able to live in Manhattan for the experience alone. I am also as equally grateful to not be a permanent resident of the city- because New York keeps its mystery in small doses.

OOTD: Draped Coats Always Provide Effortless Style

Hello Lovelies, and fellow Matryoshkas! Style is one of the things that we are often working towards perfecting.  Style is not always easy because it can be so overwhelming with all the latest trends. Who doesn’t enjoy having a well-thought-out look to step outside in? Although now, our looks are more on the athleisure side since we only have the grocery store or the occasional zoom call to dress up for. Over the years my style has evolved, and nowadays I often gravitate towards items that have a clean and streamlined look. I choose far more pieces that are devoid of too much detail solely because they are versatile and complete multiple outfit choices.

A La Russe Your Summer Style

Fotor0707163732A La Russe’s Anastasia Romantsova never disappoints me with her collections that remind me of Italy’s D&G, but with an added Russian touch of course. I could very well imagine Bianca Balti, or Monica Bellucci walking along the streets of Milan, or Florence in an A La Russe dress, it would compliment their beautiful Italian features so well. Perhaps these dresses just suit the Mediterranean lifestyle of eating well, relaxing, and lounging with good company. Continue reading “A La Russe Your Summer Style”

I’m Envious Of Elena Perminova’s Giambattista Valli Dress

Fotor0619220251

Privet Matryoshka’s!! It’s Friday. I’m lazy. So please accept this short & sweet post involving a certain Czarina. Elena Perminova continues to make me envious of her lifestyle with her growing- timeless wardrobe. The dress she happens to be wearing is by the designer Giambattista Valli- from his Haute Couture collection. Like this post the dress is short. The delicate nature of this dress comes to life with it’s floral pattern, and stand out russian red jewels. Her shoes deserve some love too- simple, chic and white. What an irresistible outfit. Victoria Bonya’s Little White Details

Screen shot 2014-06-18 at 5.12.08 PM

Privet Matryoshka’s!! You know I’ve never told you why I like to call you Matryoshka’s- in the beginning of my blogs start up I read a post where someone began their post with “Hello my dolls”. And I loved that concept, I’ve seen it in a lot of blogs actually- but having a Russian & Ukrainian blog I didn’t think that calling you dolls would suit, it wasn’t Russian enough- and wouldn’t be as original for me. I started to think of Matryoshka dolls (Russian nesting dolls), I mean it is the number one souvenir of choice for most who visit Russia. It’s iconic from the country with 11 time zones. To wrap up the story- this is how you became my Matryoshka’s. Ah so this summer amongst wearing things with an avant-guarde flair- is the trend of wearing white. I know summer and wearing white is- let me quote Miranda Priesley on this “ground-breaking”  right? lol. You guys know that I’m a sucker for posting instagram pics, so here are some of Victoria Bonya- with her little white details I think are hot for summer wear. Elena Perminova’s Beige & White Combo

Screen shot 2014-06-09 at 5.37.33 PM

Privet Matryoshka’s!! I couldn’t stop myself from posting about Elena Perminova; she looks amazing as always, and I’m sure you can guess what caught my attention about her outfit. There’s something amazing about it, first I love the white and beige combination, and second that skirt, and that cropped top are something else. If my blog had a “Look Of the day”, this would be it. What do you think of it? Continue reading “Elena Perminova’s Beige & White Combo”

Loving H&M On Elena Perminova

Fotor051922268

Elena Perminova’s rocking another look that’s all H&M’D. If I were to see those pants still hanging on the rack I’d probably bypass them, but seeing them on Elena puts a new life into them- I can see the appeal. I’m also thinking these have to be the pants from when Isabel Marant did a lovely collaboration with H&M many, many, months ago. And I’m pretty sure Elena also has the white version of these pants. Love this look it’s easier to pull off than some of the elaborate outfits the Russian mafia saunters in from time to time. Continue reading “Loving H&M On Elena Perminova”

Naseeb’s In The Perfect Maxi Dress For Summer

Screen shot 2014-05-03 at 8.32.42 PM

Privet Matryoshka’s, this is just a short and sweet post about an outfit I’m envying at the moment!! Nasiba Adilova aka Naseeb, is wearing what i’m calling the perfect maxi dress for summer. Maxi’s are a must if you don’t want to solely rely on shorts or skirts to keep cool throughout the summer…however not all of them are this gorgeous, and this maxi might be hard to find unless you’re traveling to Brooklyn. What I love about her outfit is that the dress looks so fun to wear with it’s multi-coloured stripes. The Maxi is by designer Rosie Assoulin from her SS 2014 collection, + those stripes are hand painted. (Assoulin hand paints on materials like silk, duchess satin and cotton at her studio in Brooklyn) ..Enjoy the look 🙂 Continue reading “Naseeb’s In The Perfect Maxi Dress For Summer”

What Mira Duma Wore To The Russian State Library

Fotor050101945

I’m sure by now you guys can tell that I’m not all that great with coming up with a flashy title, but at least you know what I’m on about for the time being :p. Hmm at the moment the look that I’m loving is on Miroslava Duma. She wore the look out to a trip to the Russian state library, where the last Empress of Imperial Russia (Alexandra Feodorovna Romanova) personal library collection was on display, amongst books with special binding and embroidery.  Continue reading “What Mira Duma Wore To The Russian State Library”

Elena’s Taking Spring On In White

Fotor0429234942

Privet Matryoshka’s here is a short post for you !!! Spring definitely calls for a new style arsenal, and Elena Perminova’s doing just that! The Russian it girl is showing off her post baby figure in some new apparel. These two images are recent, depicting her in two different styles while wearing oh so chic white. One outfit is of her wearing a dress that brings out her softer, elegant side, which she dressed up further with a gorgeous pair of nude heels; also matching her bag. While the second outfit is edgy, and almost sporty. Out of these two looks – I’d have to say my favourite is of her in the dress- because she looks so beautiful.
