Summer is the season when the sexiest outfits we own come out of our closets. We also love looking for new inspiration, perhaps in magazines, on blogs (hopefully this one :P), and from celebrities. Celebrities are always fun to get inspired from, and it’s even more fun to be able to see what they can come up with outside of award, or gala season. Some are a hot mess without their stylists, and others know what looks hot. Well for today’s Casual Sunday I’m looking for inspiration from the past- from Nicole Richie who used to be all over the TV- gossip magazines etc for her style. Namely her affinity for oversized sunglasses that sent us into a frenzy. I wasn’t too crazy for the whole bib neck crop when they came back into fashion- they felt too retro, too dusty! But when I see the way these tops look when paired with a good pair of distressed denim shorts, or full length..the look is effortless and sexy…and I’m a fan!
The summer of 2015 had kicked off the return of the ‘crocs’ that tied into that whole normcore trend, amid other ugly footwear abominations. This summer the ugly shoe is making a stronger return, and it’s the unfashionable that is now becoming fashionable at least when the shoe world is concerned. Que the Birkenstock movement, But not only are Birkenstocks paving the way for uglier than usual shoe trends, it’s the fact that people don’t want to shell out big bucks for summer sandal. And who can blame a person for not wanting to spend a lot of cash on a seasonal favourite. And, although I love to save money and buy everything on sale..you still will not catch me in a pair of crocs, clogs, lucite heels or even boudoir mules. Clarks? forget it, I’ll stick to my summer favourite my Zigi Soho caged sandals..until they need to be retired to the trash bin. Comfort is also another alluring factor to these sole creations..making it easy to see why they are so popular. (However Birkenstocks aren’t cheap either …
Hey Everyone! There’s something about Shay Mitchell that reminds me of the blogger Sincerely Jules, perhaps it’s the beautiful places on the actresses Instagram page or maybe it’s the way she poses while wearing a pair of sunnies. Anyways I love Shay M’s casual style- she doesn’t try too hard and it reminds me of something almost anyone of us could pull off. Sometimes the simple styles are what I want to see…especially when I’m still recovering from the fashion at Vancouver Fashion Week and that was way back in March! Shay M’s style reminds me of the right amount of casual we could use on this happy Sunday. Unfortunately where I’m at, there’s a lot of rain, I’m bundled up in sweaters and I feel like we’ve reverted back to the season of fall.
For any of you who don’t already know Chiara Ferragni, Chiara is an Italian style star who is the creative blogger behind the popular blog ‘The Blonde Salad’. Chiara isn’t only a blogger but a fashion designer, a spokesperson for famous clothing brands, and an author. Often she collaborates with designers from Chanel, J Brand, Louis Vuitton, to Dior. Anyways I was browsing Instagram lately and saw a few of her photos rocking some gorgeous lacey, white outfits in Brazil. She’s currently in Brazil for the Louis Vuitton Cruise show and she’s been modelling off some killer summer style. One of the looks she’s been showing off is what I believe to be a bikini? But, it would look just as amazing in the bedroom..so who knows.. maybe we should all start wearing our lingerie to the beach a little more often. Kidding! I’m also adoring her little white dress. What are your thoughts on these looks?
Hello Everyone, Happy Trending Tuesday! I have a lovely new addition to my always expanding, and never ending wardrobe and that is:. A pair of denim shorts with ultra femme details of lace.(a gift from le boyfriend, who has been spoiling me lately- more about that in the next post). I think it’s safe to say that the majority of us own a pair of denim shorts. I often enjoy styling mine with oversized sweaters, a look that reminds me of something you’d wear in Martha’s Vineyard in the America or Laguna beach..something like that. I also love that look of a basic white T, and doing the whole High Low look with jean shorts.
Hey Everyone! Sorry for my mini absence from the blog-o-sphere, I’m back and ready to blog. Let’s begin with a Trending Tuesday post! There is one “trend” that is my absolute favourite to wear and style when the climate begins to soar and the sunshine is in abundance. Ahem, that is wearing white in the summer. I used to hear stories about how in Europe there would be ‘summer of white parties’ where everyone wears white clothing, and parties until dawn. If I give it some serious thought, I too wore white during my European travels. I had one dress in particular that could transform amidst the scenery and landscapes of Vienna, Rome, and throughout the cities of Greece, yielding some of my favourite pictures. So, maybe wearing white in the summer holds a bit of nostalgia in my mind, and I’m being a little biased towards this hot, and always a favourite summer trend. Well that and I recently bought a new dress for the summer that is in this trendy shade, it’s lacey with a …
Hey, Happy Sunday!! Actually Happy Weekend! Some of you may remember that one of my Casual Sunday posts long ago..was dedicated to Miroslava Duma’s low key and nautical look– Well this time I’ve decided to do the nautical thing just a little bit differently as a nod to summer nearing an end. I’m going to be at The Yew this weekend for their three course brunch, and seafood is definitely on the menu! So I’ve been inspired to jump on deck and wear my own version of what nautical is to a la moi, and I’m posting my planned outfit right here in this post..along with a few other looks that plays on humble rope, anchor details- vibrant reds, navy and crisp ivories..in addition to the classic horizontal stripes. & I hope these looks can inspire you if you’re wondering what outfit to wear, for brunch, on a yacht in Odessa- or coffee in a trendy cafe & patisserie .
“Think shades of ivory, and cascading layers that draw from hippie and bohemian influence creating that boho chic look that seems to resurface every summer. I’m sure none of you are all that surprised to see the return of boho. But, Some of you might be surprised to know that whenever the bohemian style is involved, there is often a hint of irony lingering. The boho style never began as a fashion statement, in fact the style was often worn by women who were indifferent to fashion altogether. The bohemian style didn’t filter itself into the style scene until the women of the early 21st century wanted to discard their bourgeoisie reputation in favour of a spirited, raw, and nomadic style consisting of flowing skirts, and patterns with endless florals.
Privet! The siren call of summer has been teasing me- from semi visible tan lines to sunshine, it almost felt like summer came early. Last Week I was in what I can only describe as a sun-kissed state of mind that made me go out and pick up neon pink nail polish. When I had finished painting my nails, my fantasy of hot summer nights had started to take a hold of me. But the purchases didn’t stop with the nail polish. I had went out and looked for two new pieces that would make my summer 2015 wardrobe hotter than all the years before.
A La Russe’s Anastasia Romantsova never disappoints me with her collections that remind me of Italy’s D&G, but with an added Russian touch of course. I could very well imagine Bianca Balti, or Monica Bellucci walking along the streets of Milan, or Florence in an A La Russe dress, it would compliment their beautiful Italian features so well. Perhaps these dresses just suit the Mediterranean lifestyle of eating well, relaxing, and lounging with good company.
