A La Russe’s Anastasia Romantsova never disappoints me with her collections that remind me of Italy’s D&G, but with an added Russian touch of course. I could very well imagine Bianca Balti, or Monica Bellucci walking along the streets of Milan, or Florence in an A La Russe dress, it would compliment their beautiful Italian features so well. Perhaps these dresses just suit the Mediterranean lifestyle of eating well, relaxing, and lounging with good company.
I admire Ulyana Sergeenko’s eclectic taste for all things beautiful, for leaving an impression since her debut that lead to her becoming one of the most recognizable street style stars, now turned fashion designer. Tommy Ton and The Sartorialist’s Scott Shuman have cameras that have fallen in love with the Russian it girl. Is it her canvas like features we adore the most? Her porcelain skin? Her signature red lips? Ulyana takes risks, she wears vintage, all the while inspiring our whimsical fantasies of owning, and wearing couture the way she does.
Privet Matryoshka’s, this is just a short and sweet post about an outfit I’m envying at the moment!! Nasiba Adilova aka Naseeb, is wearing what i’m calling the perfect maxi dress for summer. Maxi’s are a must if you don’t want to solely rely on shorts or skirts to keep cool throughout the summer…however not all of them are this gorgeous, and this maxi might be hard to find unless you’re traveling to Brooklyn. What I love about her outfit is that the dress looks so fun to wear with it’s multi-coloured stripes. The Maxi is by designer Rosie Assoulin from her SS 2014 collection, + those stripes are hand painted. (Assoulin hand paints on materials like silk, duchess satin and cotton at her studio in Brooklyn) ..Enjoy the look 🙂
Vika Gazinskaya is up to something exciting! The Russian it girl and Fashion Designer is collaborating with the Swedish brand “& Other stories”. A brand that was first launched in March 2013, and is owned by the H&M group. Vika’s collaboration is full of multi-coloured polka-dot print on neutral canvases, scribble print; + Vika’s trademark for using volumes and natural fabrics like silks, cotton and linens are being included. The SS 2014 capsule collection will have accessories like shoes and scarves, and of course there will be dresses, blouses, pants and trenches to pair them with. The collection is fun, feminine, cheerful and a little bit child-like. Enjoy.
It’s the independent, home grown Russian clothing label (straight out of Moscow) that’s famous for photographing models with disheveled appearances; bring on that morning after-sex-
ruined tousled hair, gobs of mascara running down your cheeks, and the marks of your previous nights uninhibited endeavours. Moscow’s Walk of Shame’s avant-garde style speaks for itself- inspired by the girl who lives for the night, who ends up spending the morning after hobbling along the streets on a broken heel, while still wearing last nights outfit (that’s just not a pretty picture). If you’re that girl well you’re the reason Walk Of Shame was created, plus you might even be saving your ass face in one of their designs.
Vika Gazinskaya’s Fall winter 2014 campaign is taking on a futuristic approach!! The Russian fashion designers collection features clothes with tattoo details on delicate “powdery-tissues”, pastels, wide ruffles and outfits with structure- depicted in true look-book fashion, where Photographer and video artist Ernest Yakovlev took images, and made them into a modern video version, to delight true Vika fans. Here’s the link to the Video on Buro 24/7.
Privet Matryoshka’s! Spring is the most passionate of the seasons; where both nature and human’s senses are awakened after a winter long coma; where flowers and romance find themselves equally in bloom. There’s no surprise here when spring takes center stage as one of the most influential seasons in fashion, often lending it’s florals, and pastel hues to the runway.Igor Gulyaev’s Spring-Summer 2014 collection is titled “Paradise”.
Arthur Kulkov has been featured in H&M’s campaigns in the past such as the Summer Heat campaign (2013) where he modelled off H&M’s swimwear. Now the Russian model is making a return alongside Andre Feulner for H&M’s Spring-Summer 2014 “Subtle Simplicity” collection. Prepare to see muted colour-blocking, military cut shirts, must have bombers and of course denim for a masculine and understated style.
Privet Matryoshka’s Viva Vox has had some ups and downs in its Spring-Summer 2014 collection. There is a part of me that loves the lipstick printed dress (it looks fun!), and of course there is love for the neutral dresses in the collection. It’s the kermit the frog incorporation that ruins it for me- I know I’m not a muppets fan- so please don’t hate me for being indifferent to your childhood likes, and memories.
