Tina Fey’s Golden Globes Dress by Russian Fashion Designer Ulyana Sergeenko

Some of you may be familiar with the beginnings of the Zaychishka blog, and how often I reported on the Russian fashion elite, to collections made by Russian Fashion Designers. One name some of you may recognize is Ulyana Sergeenko, who has been featured on this blog over the years along with Miroslava Duma, Elena Perminova, Vika Gazinskaya and Anya Ziourova. This stylish quintet of women was often referred to as the Russian Mafia, or the Russian ‘it’ girls for their incredible sense of style. Ulyana was known back then for her love of the vintage style, and every fashion week she would serve us looks that would take us on a journey back in time. When Ulyana opened her label in April of 2011 in Moscow Russia, it came as no surprise to see her base her collections on her own personal style, and passion for antiques and vintage themes. Ulyana’s label has been gaining a North American clientele, including celebrities from Beyonce to Kim Kardashian.

Elina Ten’s Eco Couture ‘ INsideOUT UPsideDOWN.’ At VFW 2016

Privet Everyone! It’s finally spring time which means the flowers will begin blooming, and there will be new styles to obsess over. To celebrate spring I’m thinking that this show I saw at Vancouver Fashion Week suits the new season perfectly. Elina Ten’s Eco Couture Collection is all about florals. The clothing reminded me of a fantasy world, where the outfits would be seen on women attending a debutante afternoon tea party. Can you imagine those tea parties during the Edwardian and Gilded age? And the scandals women would discuss? These days it would be all about booty size.  Continue reading “Elina Ten’s Eco Couture ‘ INsideOUT UPsideDOWN.’ At VFW 2016”

Danny Reinke’s ‘Let’s Get Lost’ Collection At VFW & Mini Interview

Hey Everyone! There was one show that everyone seemed to feel a sense of nostalgia for at Vancouver Fashion Week. Envision coats with teddy bears attached, to whimsical skirts that channel all of your favourite childhood memories. Danny Reinke was one of the designers who showed off his collection “Let’s Get Lost” at Vancouver Fashion Week’s Runway. (Danny Reinke also was one of the participant designers with Elephantasia.)Danny is a designer based in Berlin, Germany, who grew up in the small fishing village of  Mönkebude, Near the Baltic Sea. His home has been the source inspiration for his past collections, making him aware of nature, and the importance of sustainability.

I wasn’t able to sit down with Danny Reinke, but decided to email him for a mini interview to discuss the collection I saw on the VFW runway. I threw a few questions his way that discuss how inspiration finds him, his eco conscious attitude, and he also answered one of my readers questions. He often works with recycled fabrics which lead him to developing Danny Upcycling, and is actively involved in raising awareness for causes- including the protection of Africa’s wild animals. So don’t forget to check out the interview & the photos I took from front row at Vancouver Fashion Week Fall Winter 2016!
