The summer of 2015 had kicked off the return of the ‘crocs’ that tied into that whole normcore trend, amid other ugly footwear abominations. This summer the ugly shoe is making a stronger return, and it’s the unfashionable that is now becoming fashionable at least when the shoe world is concerned. Que the Birkenstock movement, But not only are Birkenstocks paving the way for uglier than usual shoe trends, it’s the fact that people don’t want to shell out big bucks for summer sandal. And who can blame a person for not wanting to spend a lot of cash on a seasonal favourite. And, although I love to save money and buy everything on sale..you still will not catch me in a pair of crocs, clogs, lucite heels or even boudoir mules. Clarks? forget it, I’ll stick to my summer favourite my Zigi Soho caged sandals..until they need to be retired to the trash bin. Comfort is also another alluring factor to these sole creations..making it easy to see why they are so popular. (However Birkenstocks aren’t cheap either …
Privet Everyone! It’s finally spring time which means the flowers will begin blooming, and there will be new styles to obsess over. To celebrate spring I’m thinking that this show I saw at Vancouver Fashion Week suits the new season perfectly. Elina Ten’s Eco Couture Collection is all about florals. The clothing reminded me of a fantasy world, where the outfits would be seen on women attending a debutante afternoon tea party. Can you imagine those tea parties during the Edwardian and Gilded age? And the scandals women would discuss? These days it would be all about booty size.
Happy Trending Tuesday! Today I’m introducing to you a trend that is making a triumphant return from the 90’s. Some might say it’s making a cool style refresh comeback, while others will be sharing the exact same thought as Zaychishka, it’s hiiideeeousss burn it with fire. What’s this trend I’m speaking of? It’s the Flatform! Flatforms can only be described as being something that a designer whipped up while drunk one night with Elmers glue in hand, and glued a pair of flats onto platforms. I’m also sure this alleged designer laughed to themselves and said “YES, I can make ugly things and people will buy this and they’ll tell all their friends it’s all the rage this season” Way to go whoever you are, you did it. Flatforms are back.
This season Vancouver Fashion Week had more shows that focused around sustainability. Elephantasia was a unique experience that intended to show us that we need to be aware of what’s going on in our world. That we can’t forget that we’re not the only ones who inhabit the earth, and that sometimes our greed can have detrimental effects on the creatures who share, and inhabit the world with us. The runway was transformed by tribal drumming that grabbed the audiences attention, along with powerful imagery, presentations, guest speaker Dr.Jake Wall, and outfits designed by numerous fashion designers who feel equally passionate towards putting an end to the illegal poaching, and harvesting of ivory from African and Asian elephants. Designers were inspired by just about everything there is to this majestic land mammal. While models furthered the mood by wearing haunting, tribal themed makeup.
Privet Everyone! Wow, I’m feeling a little overwhelmed from all of the images from Fashion Week, but I’m almost done editing all of them! I’m also working on putting in content to make the posts come together. I’m sure you also might have noticed that I actually finished one post and put it up ASAP, and that was for Noe Bernacelli since I was so excited to share his collection with you. I was also happy that I got to sit in front row for his show, it was foot friendly, and a little bit easier to snap all of the photos I needed to get for you.
I’m pretty obsessed with making polyvore collages..and for the month of December i’m going to be posting outfit ideas to inspire you for all occasions! Including a post dedicated to styles that look great for dinner with your significant others parents- to lounging at home. But today’s post is dedicated to a look that is glammy, sexy and one that you can have a lot of fun with. & I know I’m early..but this look was too fun to create and well, here it is! Enjoy New Years is that night when you get to be all glammed up, strutting through the streets in your stilettos, with a belly full of either good food, alcohol or a combination of both. As far as NYE style goes I love a look that has white, Or something over the top with feathers, or some type of embellishment that screams.. This is my year! But I also love to stick to the classics with outfits that have a bit of streamlined shine, e.g. Metallics.
