Vika Gazinskaya’s Look Book for Spring Summer 2015 is showing off her inspirations, and this time it’s not a mood board teaser. The Russian it girl and fashion designer recently wrapped up from Paris Fashion Week and has chosen the perfect time to show off yet another anticipated collection. Each garment is unique in its own way, and if you’re curious to know what the theme of choice was, it’s of the east, think Turkey. The look book shows pieces that have asymmetrical shapes, along with Vika’s personal touches of being hand painted. The other unique things to see are the knotted turbans, the translucent robe, and yes even a pajama suit.
Whenever I think of Paris Fashion Week, I can’t help but to be reminded of the Devil Wears Prada. Particularly when Paris is depicted at night. The film then transitions to fashion designers making their cameo appearances, and the runways are lit up by the flash of photographers cameras. The scene makes me daydream, I just want to pack a luggage full of a parisian inspired wardrobe, fly to Paris, hotel at The Ritz, and sit front row at Chanel. I’d probably even adopt sunglasses as a new HG after being blinded by the flashing cameras, but that’d be a small price to pay (while in reality this is wistful thinking). But this dream will have to wait, as Paris Fashion Week has come to an end, but don’t worry there are still many street style images to look at to keep you entertained. Most of the looks featured are of the Russian Fashion Pack, so you will see the outfits Ulyana Sergeenko wore, to Vika Gazinskaya and even Natalia Vodianova. Aka the scene stealers. (Update: …
Today’s Casual Sunday inspiration comes from a look worn by Vika Gazinskaya for Tsum’s Fashion Night Out event (which happened a while back ago). When the day calls for basics, printed tee’s and jeans are the casual of the casual wear. I’ve been seeing a lot of printed tee’s and sweaters inside of H&M. Most of the tee’s and sweaters are incorporating ‘French words’ for those wanting a loud, parisian chic inspired wardrobe. So if you don’t have a basic top to pair with jeans, or you’re a fan of sweaters; H&M would be the place to go for a cheap trendy printed top. Besides Vika’s lip print Tee is no longer available, and you’d had to have been in Moscow to receive it. Anyways enjoy the look…I think it’s cute…esp Vika’s top(s) that she’s showing off.
Privet!!! Last time we got to see a glimpse of Vika Gazinskaya’s inspiration board, and now it looks like she’s teasing us again. The images she recently posted are of her Spring Summer 2015 collection, featuring peacock prints, wild colour combinations and turbans. The turbans remind me of Ulyana Sergeenko’s SS 2014 collection, plus the style icon is often spotted wearing them along with other interesting head pieces. Anyways enjoy the sneak peak Matryoshka’s!! I’m excited to see the rest of Vika’s collection!
Vika’s capsule collection for & Other Stories is still vivid in my mind, it was a collection that played with modern ideas, colourful polka dots, and became one of the most covetable collections of the season. Anyways let’s get to the point!! Vika must be working hard in her atelier as she posted a teaser on her instagram account featuring what could be in store for her next collection. So far I see that the fun silhouettes are back, with a few new inspirational twists, imagine far off lands, and colourful clashes.
Last week I went shopping, and had some fun trying on a dress by Dsquared2, I thought to myself instead of oogling something from a far it makes more sense to just try the object of desire in question on- & you know that can lead to two results: One you try it on and it fits like a glove; meaning it’s coming home with you regardless of the astronomically high price tag, or that the dress has become less desirable, this is the preferred, and rare option you secretly are hoping for to spare your wallet. But my recent shopping trip fed my curiosity & not the cashier; and I asked myself ‘What would it be like to be a Russian it Girl?’
I’m not a big fan of maxi dresses, which I’m sure is making you wonder why this Casual Sunday post is about the long dress style( I don’t own any- yet so maybe that’s why :P). I do however love it as an option for hot summer days when you’re bloated, or don’t feel like showing off your legs. Or yes— if you just want a more feminine style with added length. But I really love this style for expectant mommies to be. When Miroslava Duma was pregnant with her son George she wore a lot of cute outfits, but she also wore quite a few maxi dresses.
When Paris Fashion Week rolls around you know that means it’s time for paparazzi and bloggerati alike to show off the latest street style looks from those who own the concrete catwalk. But this time I’m seldom a fan of what my favourite Russian fashion pack selected to be voluntarily photographed in.
Privet Matryoshka’s! Vika Gazinskaya (your beloved Russian designer + it girl) has been having a lot of good fortune lately. First her collaboration with & Other Stories created a buzz by giving the lucky few who live across Europe access to buying at least one Vika original; And now her designs are finding themselves on recognizable faces. In this case Vika’s Decolette shoulder strap jumpsuit was spotted on Elle fanning-To be honest I barely know who this Elle Fanning is, I have a vague idea that she’s a celebrity- but what I do know is that Vika, or at least any designer in this case loves to see their work displayed on those who are going to be photographed and giving all that work the attention it deserves.
Vika Gazinskaya’s instagram is buzzing with sneak previews from her SS 2014 capsule collaboration collection for & Other Stories. I think the Russian street style star/ Fashion Designer is pretty excited to be able to expand her audience and make her pieces more widely available to those residing in Europe. Gazinskaya’s collection will be available May 5th, and will first be appearing in the Paris’s Colette store + on their website . By May 15th the collaboration will then be made available to all & Other Stories stores across Europe.
