Hey Everyone! I hope you are all having a wonderful week! Well I’ve been going out for coffee a lot lately, and one of my go to looks for enjoying coffee involves ‘athlesiure wear’. No it doesn’t involve lululemon yoga pants, or wearing sports bras instead of a cropped top (although I love my neon nike sports bra). Instead I love to mix and match different things from my wardrobe that involve faux leather sleeves, shift dresses, pantyhose, leggings and runners. I also should confess that I love grays and blacks…I sometimes have an obsession with buying all gray pieces and then end up complaining in the summer that my clothing isn’t ‘colourful’ enough. Who else has the same problem?
Anyways it might be summer at the moment but this week in British columbia I’ve had to turn the heat on in my house, the next day the AC, and well the weather is rather unpredictable with it’s mix of hot and cool. So before I officially say goodbye to fall and winter wardrobe pieces I thought I’d wear one of my favourite looks for the last time. Before it gets too hot! The look involves 3 pieces (4 if you include the attitude; and a stupid smile).
Hey Everyone! Sorry for my mini absence from the blog-o-sphere, I’m back and ready to blog. Let’s begin with a Trending Tuesday post! There is one “trend” that is my absolute favourite to wear and style when the climate begins to soar and the sunshine is in abundance. Ahem, that is wearing white in the summer. I used to hear stories about how in Europe there would be ‘summer of white parties’ where everyone wears white clothing, and parties until dawn. If I give it some serious thought, I too wore white during my European travels. I had one dress in particular that could transform amidst the scenery and landscapes of Vienna, Rome, and throughout the cities of Greece, yielding some of my favourite pictures. So, maybe wearing white in the summer holds a bit of nostalgia in my mind, and I’m being a little biased towards this hot, and always a favourite summer trend. Well that and I recently bought a new dress for the summer that is in this trendy shade, it’s lacey with a slip underneath..which means it could probably even serve as a beach cover up.
Milan Fashion Week only happens twice a year! If I could only attend one Fashion Week in the world it would come down to Milan VS Paris. Milan is home to the Italian fashion houses who show off their collections think Gucci, Prada, Moschino, Versace etc. And who can resist Italian fashion? Many of the shows take place in showrooms, or in studios but what makes Milan special is that sometimes shows can take advantage of the city’s outdoor landmarks. The Piazza Duomo located in Milan’s central square, or the courtyard of a 15th century castle- the Castello Sforesco, and the Arco della Pace located in Parco Sempione have all been the center of a few fashion shows in their time! These places let the public see the shows, so if you’re planning to travel to Milan during FW, check out these historical hot spots for fashion spotting.
What do we look for in designer fashion labels? Is it their relevance, or the way they make a statement? When fashion week rolls around, the concrete catwalk is almost as equally as important as the runway. The streets set the trends. The quirky, and vibrant outfits of the risk takers are flaunted in our faces, while the style makers will be setting trends that so many of us will be inspired from, and interpret. It’s no secret that there’s just a few brands out there that continue to roll out those hot list items that we continue to crave. These top 10 brands know how to market love at first sight, and they definitely know how to slay.
