The holidays are nearing and i’m that holiday mood! I’ve already decided on what gifts to give, and the wrapping paper (I’ll be using a mix between brown paper with twine, and paper that has little reindeers). I’m also thinking of making my boyfriends mother, and family a special Italian dessert- with a few tweaks involving lemon zest and limoncello. Now since it is the holiday season, I thought it would be a good idea to make Casual Sunday a little more “dressier”, but will still have comfy, and casual elements.
Hey, Happy Sunday!! Actually Happy Weekend! Some of you may remember that one of my Casual Sunday posts long ago..was dedicated to Miroslava Duma’s low key and nautical look– Well this time I’ve decided to do the nautical thing just a little bit differently as a nod to summer nearing an end. I’m going to be at The Yew this weekend for their three course brunch, and seafood is definitely on the menu! So I’ve been inspired to jump on deck and wear my own version of what nautical is to a la moi, and I’m posting my planned outfit right here in this post..along with a few other looks that plays on humble rope, anchor details- vibrant reds, navy and crisp ivories..in addition to the classic horizontal stripes. & I hope these looks can inspire you if you’re wondering what outfit to wear, for brunch, on a yacht in Odessa- or coffee in a trendy cafe & patisserie .
“Simplicity is key when it comes to packing luggage like a pro, but what can sabotage your packing is that little problem of choosing which pieces from your wardrobe are worthy enough to make the cut. It’s not like you can bring your entire closet, but there are a few hacks to make you look like you did, so you can remain your sartorial best in Paris, to even the Maldives (psst the Maldives is a favourite amongst the Russian jet-set).
Many of us know that Miroslava Duma is the founder of Buro 24/7, and that she’s known to those of us who are fashion-crazed for her tantalizing street style. When the Russian it girl is not attending Fashion Week in Milan, Paris or New York, she’s hopping a plane to a new destination due to the popularity of her online publication Buro 24/7 that has exploded internationally. Now All of this leaves me wondering how Miroslava Duma manages to stay fresh faced, and always stylish, and what some of her best tips for travel are.
Privet, and happy casual sunday Matryoshkas! This Casual Sunday post is all about a yellow, you know that colour we associate with the ripest of lemons, the warmth of the sunshine, optimism and of happiness. Yellow is one of spring 2015’s hottest colours, and it’s also one of the best ways to add punch to any outfit.
It has been ages since I’ve last worked on a Casual Sunday post featuring Russia, and the Ukraine’s best dressed! So to revive Casual Sunday, I’m starting off with a look worn by my style crush, Elena Perminova! During Paris Fashion Week the streets are filled with women who are wearing beautiful ensembles, and yes some opt to wear questionable outfits that only make sense for the intended purpose of street style entertainment.
Privet lovely Matryoshkas, are you ready for part 2 of VFW? As you know it cannot be a true fashion week without seeing at least some of the attending guests outfits. So in short this post is dedicated to the guests and also to the giveaways/ freebies. The event was sponsored by My Skye Berry Pie and they gave out gifts throughout the week. I got a cute little gift box from them that included a pineapple bath bomb, a vegan lipgloss, chapstick, gift certificates and discounts to local shops. So that kind of was nice to receive! Anyways as some of you may know my best friend came with me to two consecutive days at VFW pretending to be my “assistant” haha, and my boyfriend attended the event with me also on two seperate occassions and he posed as my “photographer”. So for when me and my best friend went it felt like a girls night mixed with a fashion night out vibe, we dressed up and on we went to enjoy this rare Vancouver event.
It feels like it’s been forever since I’ve put up some of my style crush’s looks, the one who can pull off crazy, dramatic styles and mannish elements. Elena Perminova is enjoying the shows at Milan Fashion Week 2015 (actually it’s for men, so it’s mens fashion week in Milan!!), and I’m jealous because I would love to have a reason to be able to wear more of my dressier items, and sit in on the fashion shows. I love the details put into both the image setting, and in her outfits, especially the Prada backdrop. So I guess this means expect to see a lot of street style from Milan Fashion Week!
Privet! There are days that call for the release of the feral, and inner ‘couer sauvage (wild at heart)’ version of yourself. If you want to inject a fierceness into your look without doing anything permanent like…say a tattoo, tribal inspired style choices are it. Today’s Throwback Thursday post is inspired by a look Elena Perminova was seen in moments after the Giambattista Valli fashion show in 2012. Elena’s fringed sweater compliments her tiger print dress. You know the fringed sweater reminds me of a lions fur right down to the magnificent mane from a male lion. As for Elena’s facial expressions they’ve been transformed into something predatory, and I love it. My guess is she’s on the hunt for a new fashion find. And..here’s a question for you lovely matryoshka’s I’m curious what’s your outfit of choice to wage war in when you’re feeling wild?
Fall, the time when leaves begin to leave the trees, covering the ground as a precursor to the blanket of winters snow fall. For some fall is a favourite season. It’s surreal to see the changing colours in the trees that line the streets. While the subtle chill lingering in the air brings with it a sort of nostalgia, and memories of the first time when I drank a pumpkin spice latte (Yes I drink those!). Well Matryoshka’s summer is over, but Casual Sunday’s are not! Time to bring out your fall fashion crushes and enjoy the new season while it lasts.
