I feel as if I haven’t made a post about Elena Perminova in ages, and I’m sure some of you might be missing her style moments around here. The Russian trendsetter, and mom of three isn’t one to play around with hairstyle or makeup, you’ll notice that her hair is always done in a simple manner, or that her makeup is minimalistic, anddd I think she does this because she likes to let her outfits speak for themselves. I, on the other hand would want to be playing with my hair and makeup for each look, just because it’s fun to be able to change your looks, especially when you’re wearing gorgeous clothes. Anyways that’s enough of my opinion! Enjoy the post, you’ll see some style that varies from Christian Dior, to Elie Saab.
Elena Perminova is the coup de coeur of my style crushes; She’s a Chanel ambassador, Jet & trend setter, mother of three, model, a philanthropist- she’s the first to create an online auction via instagram aptly named S.O.S by Elena Perminova (Which helps to cover the cost of children’s medical expenses) and is married to the media mogul- Alexander Lebedev. What doesn’t Elena have under her repertoire? Today, I thought it would be fun to put up a few of her top style moments, which is never easy to narrow down – some of the images are of her appearing ultra-femme, to her take on a great Gatsby look, and of course there is always a little bit of androgyny to be found.
The ushanka is one of Russia’s greatest media icons, and an item that I tend to crush on from time to time. If you were with me last winter then you might remember that I wrote two posts about the ear flap hat : Wearing Ushankas With Attitude and Ushankas Are Just Made For Winter Street Style. This year I thought I’d revive the ushanka because 1). Fun, chic, and cute looks can be made with them. e.g. Just imagine sipping on hot chocolate in a chalet somewhere while wearing one. 2). If you’re like me who can’t pull off beanies or tuques well this may be an option for you. And 3). Both Babushkas and Russian mothers agree that it’s important to keep your head warm so you won’t get meningitis, and whats better than an ushanka at keeping your head warm? (Russians take keeping your head warm seriously)
Elena Perminova is enjoying her time in NYC, from H&M showrooms to Alexander Wang parties, who wouldn’t be having a good time ? Elena always gets her hands on all the new fashion goodies so fast! Here she is posing and showing off most of Alexander Wang’s collaborative collection for H&M.
I’m not a big fan of maxi dresses, which I’m sure is making you wonder why this Casual Sunday post is about the long dress style( I don’t own any- yet so maybe that’s why :P). I do however love it as an option for hot summer days when you’re bloated, or don’t feel like showing off your legs. Or yes— if you just want a more feminine style with added length. But I really love this style for expectant mommies to be. When Miroslava Duma was pregnant with her son George she wore a lot of cute outfits, but she also wore quite a few maxi dresses.
Privet Matryoshka’s!! I don’t think this look can get anymore Russian Babushka than this (okay maybe it could if the two women making delicious blini, or pelmeni. Yum!! ). I’m calling the look Babushka, but not in a bad way. I’m loving the look for there’s a certain old world russian charm here. Yes it’s that fur, and the head-scarfs that create a look from Russia with love.-
It’s true Russian women have an outré affair with fashion, but relax this is not an overly dramatic street style look. I’m enjoying the simplicity of an all black outfit, it has its moment of chic-ness. Sometimes all black outfits are guilty
The Russian oligarch lives a life of splendour, often playing on his yacht, dating famous models, and other tiresome indulgences he’s burdened with on a regular basis. Well Matryoshka’s once in a while I think I’ll have to do a style feature on Russia’s wealthy men, since “it” boys don’t exist, the Russian oligarch will have to suffice.
Yana Raskovalova, Anna Makarova and Polina Kitsenko It looks like Yana Raskovalova provided guests with a fabulous evening out, enhanced by details that went into the interior decor, (and food). Decorations included curtains made of beads, icicles, fir branches and cones. Yana’s wintry details enriched the presentation of her new jewellery collection “Frosty Lace”.
Privet my matryoshka’s, Elena’s still enjoying all that the Italian country side has to offer, here she is enjoying her morning basking in the Umbrian sun. I’m envious . Elena’s modelling off her simple but chic black and white look on the patio, window-sill and at the breakfast table. I’m really loving those boots of hers which she’s been wearing quite a bit lately.
