The world is a lust driven place,- sex, passion love- it’s ingrained in us all; These thoughts carry us away, and in the world of contemporary art- modern attitudes of acceptance transpire into one man, or woman’s inspiration. The art duo Alexander Vinogradov and Vladimir Dubossarsky are Russian contemporary artists who have been collaborating since 1994, their known for their pop art, and focus on socialist realism.
Natalia Valveskaya on the other hand is a Russian designer known for her Haute Couture and Prêt-à-Porter lines. Valveskaya’s whimsical dresses are not just a fashion statement, the Russian designer has made it her mission to integrate art into fashion- think vibrant coloured wools, silks, shiffons + all of her creations are handmade, and produced in Italy with a passion for art preservation on the side.
Valveskaya’s Spring-Summer 2013 collection was inspired by the work of her personal friends,- yes the art duo: Alexander Vinogradov and Vladimir Dubossarsky. Now, this art duo’s paintings aren’t subtle, nor do they shy away from nudity but!! I guarantee Natalia’s attempt at bringing focus to the artists in her creations has tasteful nudity, ready to be worn for a night out on the town…without garnering you the wrong type of attention. I’ve also included the oil on canvas works of Dubossarky and Vinograd so you lovely matryoshka’s are able to see how Natalia Valveskaya was inspired, alongside her garment interpretations- in case this has piqued your interests. I also want to add that I’m a fan of Natalia Valveskaya’s art/fashion integration mission, it’s stunning, thought provoking- and beautiful…and I hope you become a fan. Hehe, what are your thoughts? P.S. Don’t be shy.
